Across Col Raiser to Seceda: An easy panoramic hike in Val Gardena

Val Gardena is one of the most beloved valleys of the South Tyrol. This 25km long valley located in the heart of Dolomites, includes three municipalities of Ortisei, St. Cristina and Selva – three picturesque villages are embedded in idyllic green nature and surrounded by impressive mountain scenery. Every year, no matter if in summer or winter, many visitors come here to explore the breathtaking landscapes in this magical land: the majestic peaks in Puez-Odle Nature Park, the steep rocks of Sasso Lungo, the imposing Sella Mountain Massif, the green meadows and gentle hills of Alpe di Siusi.

For nature and mountain lovers, there are many places to discover in Val Gardena. Whether hiking, mountain biking, Nordic walking or skiing I can guarantee you will enjoy it. You can find more information about hiking trails, cycling paths on this website. Here I will introduce a quite easy hiking trail with the panoramic and spectacular views.

This route starts from Col Raiser cable car station, so you need to take the bus to bus-stop [S. Cristina Val Gardena, Dosses] and then take the cable car. After arrived Col Raiser cable car station, you take the trail no. 4A towards Fermeda Hut. From this hut, you can follow the trail no. 1A to go up to the cable car station of Seceda. Just a few minutes from this station, you will reach Seceda summit, which provides a panoramic, breathtaking view of both Val Gardena and Val di Funes.

On the way back, you will follow trail no. 1 towards Troier Hut and then pass Lake Iman, across meadows and alpine forest towards Firenze Hut. After that, you can take trail no. 4 to come back to Col Raiser cable car station. This trekking route is quite easy and it took me about 4-4.5 hours to finish, including all the time for taking pictures, having lunch, resting on meadows.

If you don’t want to use cable car, you also can reach Col Raiser mountain station by yourself. But you will need 1.5-2 more hours. After arrived Seceda summit, you also don’t need to come back to Col Raiser, you can follow trail no. 6 – 6A – 6B to go down to Ortisei (bus-stop [S. Cristina Val Gardena, Skasa]). It will take you about 2-3 hours to finish the trail from Seceda to Ortisei.

For transportation and accommodation, you can read on my blog about Val di Funes, another valley in Dolomites.
